LIHEAP Purchasing Power Increases as Winter Heating Costs Decline for Winter 2016/2017

Winter Heating Season 2014-15/2015-16

Home heating costs declined on average by $107 (12%) from $886 to $779 between 2014-15 to 2015-16. For LIHEAP average purchasing power during this period increased from 54.7% to 62.2% and the average grant increased from $448 to $458. During this same period, the purchasing power of the average winter heating season LIHEAP grant increased from 50.6% to 57.6%.
