NEADA sent the attached letter today to OMB in response to their request for comments on proposed changes to the CPI inflation adjustment calculation for the federal poverty level. The letter states NEADA’s concerns that any change could result in a decrease in the rate of inflation and a subsequent reduction in the number of household eligible for vital program such as the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. The letter specifically requests that OMB conduct additional analysis of any proposed change to assess the full impact on low income households. Other organizations have sents letter requesting a delay or reconsideration of the process including NASCSP and NEUAC.
