As the House and Senate debate the next round of emergency funding to address the COVID-19 pandemic, a bipartisan group of Members of Congress have voiced strong support for an additional $4.3 billion in funding for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. Senators Jack Reed (D-NH), Susan Collins (R-ME), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and John Hoeven (R-ND) wrote a joint letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Minority Leader Charles Schumer demonstrating support for additional funding for LIHEAP and the Weatherization Assistance Program.

In the House, 174 Members of Congress signed a bipartisan letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy requesting $4.3 billion for LIHEAP. The letter was led by Congressmen Peter Welch (D-VT), Peter King (R-NY 2), and James McGovern (D- MA 2).
