Final FY 2016 LIHEAP Allocations by State – HHS Cuts Budget by $19.5 Million

September 21, 2016 by Ashleigh Kinsey

The third and final FY 2016 LIHEAP Allocation was released on September 15, 2016. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) distributed an additional $14,429,960 to states, tribes and territories. The remaining $19,473,000 was transferred out of LIHEAP, presumably to help fund the U.S. response to the Zika virus in this country. The transfer reduced the total LIHEAP allocation from $3.39 billion to $3.37 billion.
