Today the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released $3.65 billion of the $3.69 billion FY 2019 LIHEAP appropriation. The legislation allows the Secretary of HHS to withhold up to 1% ($37 million) of the total appropriation in the event of unexpected program requirements in other HHS accounts.
Note: The full year appropriation of $3.69 billion represents an increase from last year’s funding level of $3.637 billion. This is the first time in recent years that the full appropriation has been allocated at the beginning of the fiscal year.
